For B&Bs, holiday lets and small hotels

When a guest asks AI where to stay, does your place come up?

B&Bs, guest houses, holiday cottages and small hotels: find out whether ChatGPT and Google's Gemini suggest you when people ask where to stay near you.

What guests ask the AI

Where-to-stay questions are full of conditions. That's what makes them a good fit for an assistant, and why vague listings lose out:

  • "Dog-friendly holiday cottage near Rutland Water that sleeps six?"
  • "Quiet B&B in Stamford with parking, walking distance to the town centre?"
  • "Small hotel near Burghley House with a restaurant?"
  • "Accessible holiday let in the Peak District with a ground-floor bedroom?"

An assistant can only put you forward for "sleeps six" or "ground-floor bedroom" if those facts are written somewhere it can read and they agree with each other.

What makes a place to stay easy to recommend

  • The deciding facts, in words. How many it sleeps, bed types, pets, parking, Wi-Fi, EV charging, minimum stay, check-in times. Guests ask about these directly.
  • Accessibility, described honestly. Steps, ground-floor rooms, wet rooms, door widths if you know them. Clear, honest detail is useful to guests who need it.
  • What's nearby. Walks, attractions, pubs and stations within reach, with rough distances. This is how you get matched to "near X" questions.
  • The same facts on every listing. If one site says no dogs and another says dogs welcome, assistants may repeat either. Pick one truth and update every listing.
  • Recent reviews that mention specifics. "Perfect base for walking the dog around the reservoir" says far more than "lovely stay".

Gaps we often see

Owners who rely on booking sites often have a thin website of their own: a few photos, a booking widget and not much text. Others have several listings created years apart, each with slightly different details. Both make it harder for an assistant to be confident about you.

Seasonal businesses also get caught out by old information: last year's opening dates, a closed restaurant still mentioned, or a change of owner the listings never caught up with. If an assistant is repeating something like that, see how to correct wrong AI answers.

What the free check tells you

We ask ChatGPT and Google's Gemini the kind of questions guests ask about staying in your area. You get a plain-English email: whether you were named, roughly where, who was suggested instead, and anything said about you that looks wrong. It doesn't cover Perplexity or other assistants.

It's a snapshot, not a ranking or a promise of bookings. If it shows gaps, there are optional paid next steps, with no obligation.

Questions people ask

Guests book through the big booking sites. Why would AI matter?

Booking sites are where many people book, but some now start by asking an assistant for ideas: 'a dog-friendly cottage near Rutland Water', say. The names it gives are the places that guest then goes looking for. It helps if yours is one of them.

Should we put our prices on our own website?

If your prices change by season, a 'from' price or a note on how pricing works is fine. What matters most is that facts like sleeping capacity, pets, parking and minimum stays are written clearly and match your listings.

Is this the same as the page for cafés and pubs?

No. Our page for cafés, restaurants and pubs is about where to eat and drink. This one is about where to stay, which brings different questions: capacity, dates, pets, accessibility and what's nearby.

Is the check really free?

Yes. No card and no obligation. We ask ChatGPT and Google's Gemini the kind of questions guests ask and email you what they said, usually within 2 working days after a person has reviewed it.
